The Day Rehab Experience
Assessment -- A shared experience.
Psychosocial rehabilitiation focuses on two primary areas -- building strengths in areas of skill development and support networks. Goal development is based on participant needs and preferences.
Emphasis on "Recovery"
"Recovery" is much more than taking medications as prescribed. For most, recovery is not possible without addressing the broader concepts of wellness. "Recovery skills" such as coping with symptomology, building a positive support network, practice in responding assertively and learning self empowerment skills are emphasized.
Internet Skills
Internet skills can greatly enhance the ability to maintain contact with family and loved ones. Additionally, participants benefit from the knowledge and opportunities found on the world wide web at sites discussing advocacy, support groups, and recovery education.
Peer to Peer Support
"Hope" is perhaps one of the most important elements of recovery and is gained through observing others recover, which fosters the realization that each of us can experience recovery. Individuals experiencing co-occuriring disorders may be refered to individual and / or group therapy.
WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan)
WRAP classes assist individuals to develop highly personalized recovery action plans -- a key tool for maintaining ongoing recovery.
Day Support
Day Support Services may be utilized as a form of continued care or a precursor to involvement in the Day Rehabilitation program.
As a form of continued care, individuals who have established the supports and skills necessary to structure his/her day in a way that provides for personal safety and general wellness, may transition from daily attendance in Day Rehabilitation to Day Support. Once this transition has been made, the frequency of attendance at Day Program is determined by the individual.
As a precursor to involvement in Day Rehabilitation, the Day Support program provides an avenue for individuals to experience the benefits of the Day Rehabilitation program as they contemplate whether to become an active participant of day programming.
