WHY BECOME A THERAPEUTIC FOSTER PARENT?
You can make a difference in the life of a child and reap the emotional benefits of positively impacting a child's life.

Teaching parents receive:

  • Weekly consultation by program staff.
  • Extensive pre-service training to assist in developing skills to care for special youth.
  • Ongoing training to enhance individualized therapeutic techniques.
  • Accessibility to program staff 24 hours a day.
  • Respite care to allow parents time away from daily responsibilities.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A THERAPEUTIC FOSTER PARENT?
Teaching parents provide understanding, acceptance and stability in a safe and healthy home environment. In order to successfully accomplish this objective, the following qualities are essential:

  • Willing to be a part of the treatment team.
  • Willing to devote time to pre-service and ongoing training.
  • At least 25 years of age.
  • May be married or single.
  • In good physical and mental health.
  • Effective parenting skills.
  • Maturity and self-discipline.
  • Creativity and flexibility.
  • Enjoy challenges and commitments.
